The 15th Annual Texas Steak Cookoff will consist of two categories of competitors: Backyard Chefs and Hors d’ oeuvres Chefs.
The Backyard Chef Competition is open to teams of true amateur Chefs who believe their steak grilling skills are the best in Texas! This division has a limited number of entries for Backyard Chef teams who bring their own grills and fuel (we provide the steaks). Teams are welcome to create individual themes for their cooking booth, but this is not required.
The Backyard Chefs compete for a Grand Prize of $3,500; Second Place wins $1,750; Third Place wins $1,000; Fourth Place wins $700; Fifth Place wins $400; and Sixth through Tenth Place wins $225! Throughout the day the public is invited to interact with the Chefs and learn their secrets. At dinner time attendees will choose a Backyard Chef to prepare their steak.
In addition to the Backyard Chefs, teams can compete in The Hors d’oeuvres Competition – open to registered Chef teams submitting hors d’oeuvres to be judged. The 1st place Hors d’oeuvres Chef will receive a cash prize of $1,000, 2nd place winner $600, 3rd place winner $300, 4th place winner $200, 5th place winner $150, and 6th through 10th place winners $100.
The last award given out is the “Best in Show”. This is a $200 cash prize for the cooking team that has the “coolest, most creative and overall the best-looking cooking space”. The winner of this event will have their area featured on next years website.
Winning Chefs in all categories will be promoted on the Texas Steak Cookoff website.
The Chef competition will be available for entries on October 22, 2018. This event sells outs early so be sure and send in your registration along with payment to ensure your spot in the 15th Annual Texas Steak Cookoff. The cookoff committee is looking forward to seeing our regulars back again this year and all the new cookers that have the aspirations of becoming the winner of the “best steak in Texas.”
